Dispatches from the front:

1) Safeguarding

In accordance with recommendations from England Squash and in compliance with "best practice", particularly in respect of the club's insurance policies and in the interests of safeguarding juniors while they are on club premises, the committe has appointed Chris Winning as club Safeguarding Officer with immediate effect. Chris will be making his full recommendations in due course, but in the meantime the following rules are now in force:

1) Goggles are mandatory for all juniors at all times

2) Goggles are recommended for adults when playing doubles and any individuals opting to play without them do so at their own risk with no liability for an accident falling on the club, the committee or club employees

3) All juniors when in the clubhouse must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or be under the stewardship of a club-appointed coach – one with a current DBS certificate and licensed to England Squash

4) Any junior taking one on one coaching must do so with a Level 2 (or higher) club-appointed coach

5) No junior may enter the showers at any time

6) Whenever a junior is playing an adult member a second adult member must observe at all times throughout the game

7) No coach must be left alone with a junior at any time

2) Ladies

A ladies initiative has been kindly organised by Vicky Watterson. A beginners class of 6 sessions will be coached by Jason on a Tuesday night at 7pm starting on 10th April, and also a ladies evening will occur on the last Thursday of every month with two courts at 8pm

3) Club Night

As per the separate email that was broadcast yesterday, Friday club night has been "fine-tuned" once again.

Starting this coming Friday, Club Night will now:

1) Cost only £2 for two hours court usage, from 7pm - 9pm

2) Feature a prize draw of £20 credit-behind-the-bar with a guaranteed winner on the night from the pool of registered club nighters

3) Consist or free format social squash ie no drills, tournaments or handicaps

4) Club Bash / Pro Tournament update

We will hold a Club Bash every 18 months but vary the format – one year for members only and one year for partners as well. There will be no fund-raising at The Bash and no free tickets. The next Bash will be in the summer of 2019

We will also run a Pro Tournament annually, partly funded by Select Gaming (Jonny Powell)

5) Bicycles

No bicycles will be allowed inside the clubhouse. Extra bicycle locks will be provided for the bike rack outside the front door.
