Blackheath Bulldozed Both the 1st and 2nd team took victory over Blackheath on Tuesday pushing them both into the top half of the table. The 2nd team visited Blackheath short of players again but this time only one down. Craig Bowers returned to the side after a couple of weeks in his sick bed, taking the second game but then struggled for fitness, he still gained a point for the side with a 3-1 loss. The “3 musketeers” did their usual good work though at one, two and three to win the match 3-2. Martin never looked in doubt despite dropping a game to win 3-1 and Neil took a slightly edgier 3-1 win over his opponent with the last two games only being separated by 3 points. John now looks like he is really hitting some form this year after his knee issues, took a very convincing win 3-0. The 1st Team were short again this weeks as Jolyon is still injured but took a good victory at Home against a new looking Blackheath 1st Team. First on was the top of the order with Alex taking a very good 3-1 win over Tim despite being 10-7 down in two games. Paul at 5 made it two wins from two appearance helping the 1st team with a smart win over Tom at 5. Dean at 2 then edged a not very tight 3-2 win with some short rally’s and some very one sided games not a usual night of running for him. This meant TWSRC had won the match with the last two strings still to play. Next on was Jonny at 3 who was not informed of this, despite playing what he called “ZEN SQUASH” ** in the 1st game lost 3-0 to Chris. Anthony at 4 then made his first appearance for the 1st team this year and even with some obvious nervous squash took a very good 3-2 victory over Tats. **”ZEN SQUASH” – Jonny spent most of the evening discussing with Alex how he felt he needed to explore this “ZEN SQUASH” more, as it was the “ZONE” he felt he needed to be in. There aren’t many good squash books available but looking at other sports for inspiration JONNY, can I suggest a book to help you achieve your “ZEN SQUASH” goal, ZEN TENNIS: Playing in the Zone (Other Zen books are available). Although you have just lost 3-0 despite being in the “ZEN SQUASH ZONE” in the 1st game so I would suggest another book might be more useful, Winning Ugly by Brad Gilbert (Other books on how to win are available)! Next week the 2nd team are at Home and the 1st Team, packing their bags and with passports in tow are off to Canterbury
