Dear Members
An update on the work to be carried out on the court heating is as follows:
Firstly, the big vents on courts A and B will be blocked in this week. At the same time the old gas flues on all courts will be blocked or sealed. We are reluctant to cover up any more vents for the time being for ventilation reasons. This can easily be dealt with later if considered beneficial.
The heating system itself is activated on courts A and Picton but not currently on B for load reasons. We are meeting with our electrician this week to ascertain the maximum load we are/can pull which should hopefully allow us to have one heater working on B. If it doesn’t then the only way to have heating on B is to have a three phase supply installed at a cost somewhere north of £10,000.
We have also re-programmed all three courts such that the minimum resting temperature is increased from 13c to 16c. If the temperature on the court falls below that the heaters will turn on 24/7. We have also increased the temperature which is called for when you press the button and the blue light comes on to 21c, it was 20c, and adjusted the time that the heaters stay on when the button is pushed.
We are also exploring with the heating manufacturers the option of fitting timers to the heating circuit such that these can be programmed to come on and off as desired. This would allow us to have them all come on at, say, 4.00pm to warm up the courts before their first use of the day and leave them on until, say, 7.30pm after which the button would be used to extend the heating spell as required. Unfortunately it is not possible to modify the court booking system to turn the heaters on as it does for the lights.
