Nearly half way! The 1st team (with passports in tow) took the long trip to Canterbury last night. With only 4 players the outlook was still good in the Car as Jolyon predicted a 3-2 win and he proved to be right, sort of. On first was Jonny at 4 and Jolyon at 2. Jonny was playing a very tricky player who could play a lot higher up the order in Tom, having lost the first two he controlled it better to win the third but then lost the forth to lose 3-1. Jolyon on his way back from a knee injury raced to a 2-0 lead but then ran out of steam to lose 3-2. Next on was Alex at 1, having had a long day at the office and on the heavy ball court (I have no idea another Squash/Jonny excuse) he too went down 3-1 to a much improved in recent years Tom May. Dean was last on and again like last week played not the best squash but scrapped a 3-2 win (See where Jolyon was sort of right?) so with the last HOME game of the half next week we lost 4-1. With two of their four missing players back from injury the 2nd team continued their battle for the title with hard fought 4-1 HOME win over Hartley. It started off well as first on were Neil and Craig who both secured easy wins 3-0 over their opponents. Next on John and Martin looked in trouble as both went 2-0 down in close fought games. Johns luck continued as he went down 3-0 but Martin’s opponent unfortunately for him and not for TWells pulled up injured at 3-3 in the 3rd giving the match to Martin 3-2. Last on and still coming back from an ankle injury was Will, despite not knowing where the front of the court was he still managed to win 3-0. Next week the 1st play their last game of the half at HOME against a strong Beckenham side. Christmas cheer will be needed ! Dean Newberry
