We tried to give Club Night on Sunday evening a chance to succeed since this is a time when courts are generally available and unlike other evenings would not affect people who normally play at this time. However, after giving Club Nights on Sunday evenings a good chance to flourish, unfortunately there is not enough interest in it for us to continue it. So this Sunday 3rd March will be the last Club Night on Sunday.
We have consulted members about which day they would prefer Club Night to be, and also asked people who regularly or sometimes play on a Friday evening. The overwhelming view was that Friday nights would be best. We are grateful to members who have kindly said they are willing to join Club Night rather than booking their own courts.
Club Night will be from 7pm onwards on two courts. For the time being we will keep A court available to be booked by members until such time that Club Night becomes popular enough for all 3 courts to be booked for it. At least one committee member will be on hand to help manage proceedings and the bar will be open.
The format will be focused on just playing squash so there won't be any coaching as there was before. We want to get the balance right between people getting a decent game and not having to stand around waiting too long. So we will try two or three player single games of American scoring to 21 and then rotate new players on to the courts.
The first Club Night will be Friday 8th March. We hope to see you there!
