Court Heating

We appear to have reached a solution with the court heating that members are happy with.
The ambient temperature (the minimum temperature the heaters seek to maintain) is set at 17C and the boost temperature (the temperature the heaters seek to take the courts up to when the blue “boost” button outside each court is activated) is set at 20C. Members should however be aware that the heaters only increase the court temperature by about 1.5C per hour so that use of the boost heating doesn’t impact the court temperature immediately.
Temporary covers have been fitted over the majority of the exterior vents into the courts to minimise heat loss. The intention is to remove these covers once the weather improves to ensure we have adequate ventilation during the summer. As there has been no evidence of condensation from the reduced ventilation over the last couple of months the plan is to have more robust temporary ventilation covers made which can be used next winter.
We also have a timer installed, which turns off the court heating entirely between 21:30 and 06:00 to avoid incurring unnecessary heating costs while the courts are not in use. Between these times neither the ambient nor the boost heating is available.
To ensure the court heaters, and the central heating in the main part of the club, are able to work independently and as efficiently as possible, it would be helpful if members could close the court doors at the end of each session and ensure that the sliding windows between the courts and the bar are also closed.
